At a week and one half into the Google Android G1 phone I feel comfortable scoring the unit. The score is a C-. Sorry folks, this thing barely passes as a phone. Having left from a Blackberry (Curve) the performance gap is far too large to recommend to anyone outside of Linux geek, trendy phone chaser, Apple hater, or tolerant technology enthusiast. Not all the fault is on Google and the Android platform, T-Mobile shares some as well. I could also be wrong about some of the assumptions and I encourage some clarification. |go to post|

I bounced into this via Ars Technica (link). Basically Yahoo will “anonymize its log data after 90 days”. This should disassociate your online presence with the query after 90 days. And this is good. But when you apply some critical thinking to the topic this only underscores the scariness. |go to post|
Well, the holiday season brought some joy, some snow, a little travel, and a whole bunch of programming and web work. |go to post|
Slave to the IDE
My love for Aptana and Eclipse is LOW. I like KoMoDo - but they are sucking on updates and stability for me.
Well, today I ran into a verifiable bad parse mixing JS / Ajax / PHP / HTML - the little red X for bad syntax DRIVES ME NUTS!!! I am casting my array value into a straight variable declaration just to kill the False Error in Craptana. |go to post|
Well, day two with the Google Android G1 phone. Lot happening. I thought I would continue on the commentary on how the thing works. Lots to tell… so let’s begin. |go to post|
Got my Google G1 phone yesterday. I though I would post some notes on start up that is horribly missing form the Internet / FAQ / manual. There is a large gap of WTF between getting the phone and getting it to work.
So for those of you you just got an Android / G1 this may help you kill those first 24 hours of waiting for the thing to work. This is all about the initial T-Mobile Google Android G1 initial set up instructions not in the manual. |go to post|
In a recent study (source) Chrome is reported as
[having] critical vulnerabilities in this software during its beta period, all of which were unfixed at release time
Well, Chicago is not clean yet (politically). Blago is, well, going down(town). I just wanted to put a message out into the cyber on the topic. |go to post|
I do not like Sony. I do have 2 LCD TV’s from them, but I do not like the ethics. From Ars Technica (original):
Sony BMG will pay $1 million to the Federal Trade Commission to settle charges that it violated the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by collecting information on users under the age of 13 without their parents’ consent. The FTC says that the civil penalty will match the largest penalty ever paid out in a COPPA case.
Friends of mine will speak of my legendary hatred of Apple and Apple products. This topic is my one “luxury” hate. I often refer to the Jim Morrison idea of (paraphrase) “Gimme some death (so I can taste life)”. Or the idea of love only exists because of hate[1]. One final idea is a Widespread Panic (paraphrased) song “…how can the child find joy unless there was a period of without…”. I butchered that one , I don’t listen to Widespread anymore but I still like the music.
Let’s get into the science. |go to post|
