Confessions from the IT department

The sky is falling!

According to RIAA mantra, we are all going to burn in hell being forced to engage in sodomy with the ghost of Saddam Hussein (South Park reference).

According to people like me, we are DOOMED because there are backroom dealings to get a three strike plan in action.  This is in place of lawsuits.  Oh, by the way - three strikes applies to suspicion of file sharing.  They certainly are dirty communist bastards! |go to post|

Ars Technica [link] is passing along reports claiming that T-Mobile will be sending out new G1 batteries.  This raises a few questions in my mind. |go to post|

I think my mind is made up on Aptana / Eclipse.  In a nutshell - piece of sh!t!.  Two days of unfix-able binary issues where new files cause 500 errors.  Three servers now - so this is not a server issue.  This is 100% Aptana sucking harder than normal.

Decision is pending - but I have changed no settings, changed any habits, nothing.  But - if I have an empty folder and “create new file” using “index.php” as the name 500 errors received.  Sorry to vent.  But here is the truth - when I used KoMoDo to do the same action NO PROBLEM.

This is not the first time that CrAptana has done this, 2 months ago all file format was swapped.  That was hours to fix.  I eventually had to reload everything via FileZilla.

Now that is just plain sad.

Update:  Just spent $300 for the full IDE.  I am committed.  Aptana is just too weak.  I applaud some of the recent attention received, but the bottom line is that the application does not perform and is a great distance away from performing for me.

I just deleted all the Aptana icons from quick launch, it felt real niec.  Well… my MSI download should be complete.

At a week and one half into the Google Android G1 phone I feel comfortable scoring the unit.  The score is a C-. Sorry folks, this thing barely passes as a phone.  Having left from a Blackberry (Curve) the performance gap is far too large to recommend to anyone outside of Linux geek, trendy phone chaser, Apple hater, or tolerant technology enthusiast.  Not all the fault is on Google and the Android platform, T-Mobile shares some as well.  I could also be wrong about some of the assumptions and I encourage some clarification. |go to post|

I bounced into this via Ars Technica (link).  Basically Yahoo will “anonymize its log data after 90 days”.  This should disassociate your online presence with the query after 90 days.  And this is good.  But when you apply some critical thinking to the topic this only underscores the scariness. |go to post|

Slave to the IDE
My love for Aptana and Eclipse is LOW.  I like KoMoDo - but they are sucking on updates and stability for me.

Well, today I ran into a verifiable bad parse mixing JS / Ajax / PHP / HTML - the little red X for bad syntax DRIVES ME NUTS!!! I am casting my array value into a straight variable declaration just to kill the False Error in Craptana. |go to post|

Well, day two with the Google Android G1 phone.  Lot happening.  I thought I would continue on the commentary on how the thing works.  Lots to tell… so let’s begin. |go to post|

Got my Google G1 phone yesterday.  I though I would post some notes on start up that is horribly missing form the Internet / FAQ / manual.  There is a large gap of WTF between getting the phone and getting it to work.

So for those of you you just got an Android / G1 this may help you kill those first 24 hours of waiting for the thing to work.  This is all about the initial T-Mobile Google Android G1 initial set up instructions not in the manual. |go to post|
